Precocious Puberty

Precocious puberty or early puberty is a condition in which a child’s body begins changing into that of an adult too soon.

Puberty commences regularly in girls between ages 8 and 13 and boys between ages 9 and 14.

It usually occurs before the age of eight in girls and before the age of nine in boys. The cause is often unknown. Doctors diagnose the condition when adolescence launches early and proceeds through developmental outbreaks and bone development. We don’t know why this arises.  Let us know more about the symptoms, causes, and treatment of precocious puberty.

Two types of precocious puberty

Central precocious puberty is more formal. It’s almost like typical puberty, but it occurs early. A gland called the pituitary gland initiates making hormones called gonadotropins. These growth hormones cause the testicles or ovaries to give rise to other hormones: testosterone or estrogen. The sex hormones induces change in puberty, like breast advancement in girls.

Peripheral precocious puberty or pseudo precocious puberty is a distinct condition. It is furthermore slightly common. The hormones estrogen and testosterone trigger the indications. Usually, there is a problem with the ovaries, testicles, adrenal gland, or a severely underactive thyroid gland. But the brain and pituitary gland aren’t involved.

The indications of premature puberty and puberty are generally the equivalent. It is the time of the occurrence that varies. Symptoms include:

  • Breasts commence to grow (often the first sign).
  • The appearance of first menstruation (typically not until 2-3 years after the earlier symptoms start).
  • Abrupt height advancement.
  • Acne or pimples.
  • Adult body odour.

  • Testicles, penis, and scrotum start to grow.
  • Voice deepening (this is usually a late sign of puberty).
  • Abrupt height improvement.
  • Acne and pimples.
  • Adult body odour.

In most circumstances, specialists don’t understand the causes of central precocious puberty, especially in girls.

Sometimes, a medical situation accelerates central precocious puberty. Spurs are equally popular in boys and children under the age of six, primarily if adolescence is striding ahead promptly. They can comprise:

Tumours and other growth nodules, which are often benign and none malignant.

Brain trauma, either from surgery or a hit to the head, influences hormonal equilibria.

Inflammation of the brain, periodically from a disease.

● Other causes are tumours or nodules on the ovaries, adrenal glands, pituitary gland, or brain. Some other factors include:

  1. central nervous system dilemmas
  2. a family chronology of the illness
  3. any particular rare hereditary syndromes.

Girls are ten times as inclined to retain central precocious puberty as boys.

Several surveys have exhibited a connection between obesity of chubbiness in young girls and a raised risk of the condition.

School and home environmental pressure may induce unwanted stress which leads to this condition.

Precocious Puberty Treatment

The kind of therapy your doctor indicates will rely on what is affecting your child’s precocious puberty.

Cautious observations. In many issues, your consultant won’t be able to reveal a cause. They may recommend observing your teenager for a few months.

GnRH analogue treatment. If your youngster has central precocious puberty and no other situations, the doctor may indicate GnRH analogue medication. This is a medication your kid gets once a month in a pellet. It halts growth while they carry it. Your teenager will put up with it until they attain the normal age for adolescence.

Histrelin implant. Your child would require small surgery to get this implant. The doctor settles it under the skin of the inside portion of their upper arm that lasts longer than a year. It also uncertainties development but doesn’t impose monthly shots.

If your child has a situation that is influencing precocious puberty, dealing with that will usually cease the condition, too.

Precocious puberty is the same as normal puberty that comes a bit earlier and there is no harm in considering it as normal if it is well managed by the kids and parents.
